Here’s a unique Aussie surfing scene from the 1960s.
There was nothing better than an exhausting day in the ocean when the surf was this good - except warming up by a beach fire with my mates, drinking a VB stubbie and telling tall tales of large surf.
Featured here is the very popular Holden ’59 FC Ute beside the gutless wonder (the first car I ever owned), a 1938 model Morris 8/40!

In his paintings Garry recalls the surf craft, clothing, cars and icons of that era in minute accurate detail. He creates original paintings from his memory of personal experiences. Each scene is more than a painting, it also tells a story of that era.
Working mostly in gouache, Garry's vibrant style reflects the magic of the ocean and his love of riding the waves.
