Oh what a feeling arriving at a deserted surf spot - wave after perfect wave and we’re the first there!
Well worth the early start to catch the swell at daybreak.
In the ’60s the only question was which way the wind was blowing and where to go for the best swell, as every Australian beach, north and south, was exclusively the domain of a few passionate surfers.
The FJ Holden, a classic Aussie icon of the ‘60s is still a treasured favourite today.

In his paintings Garry recalls the surf craft, clothing, cars and icons of that era in minute accurate detail. He creates original paintings from his memory of personal experiences. Each scene is more than a painting, it also tells a story of that era.
Working mostly in gouache, Garry's vibrant style reflects the magic of the ocean and his love of riding the waves.
