Rocky Point is a contemporary shortboard surfing scene, a surf spot that could be anywhere in Australia today.
For more than half a century the Holden Ute has been a surfers’ icon, for its versatility and reliability.
Featured in this painting is the EH 63 Holden Ute parked beside the ever popular VW Beetle.
The robust 4 wheel drive Toyota Land Cruiser is a frequent visitor to the more rugged and remote surf spots on our Australian coastline.

In his paintings Garry recalls the surf craft, clothing, cars and icons of that era in minute accurate detail. He creates original paintings from his memory of personal experiences. Each scene is more than a painting, it also tells a story of that era.
Working mostly in gouache, Garry's vibrant style reflects the magic of the ocean and his love of riding the waves.
