The 60's/Dusk Surf In summer with wave lines going out to the horizon the days were never long enough for us surfers. An exhausted girl leaves the water at dusk to load her board into the back of a 1949 Dodge pick up. A surfer loads his longboard on the roof rack of an old Chevy saloon, which is parked near one of USA’s most famous surfing icons, the 1947 Ford Woody. Garry draws on his surfing and working experiences in California to recreate
the early days of American surfing. He spent time with Gordon and
Smith in San Diego and Hawaii, with Ocean Pacific and it's
founder Jim Jenks, and working with the great textile designer Walter
Hoffman in California. And, of course, he surfed with many of America's
great old time surfers. |
